The recent fashion season has been glorious, with lots of cold shoulder action and slinky slip dresses that can be worn in our hot British summer. None of us have been far away from someone in either a pair of mules or shades loving the sunny weather. Eventually, the weather will give way to a cool crisp Autumn which means that you need to be prepared for when the next season hits us. The high street already has their first preview of their Autumn Winter collections out so here is an overview of the keys items and trends you need to invest in for the coming season.
These have been building for the last couple of months but it's now time to embrace this trend. If you are heading back to work after a holiday and need a workwear update then these are the perfect pair of shoes. The loafer trend is a great transitional piece for wearing with a summer dress or culottes to work, or at the weekends with a pair of favourites jeans. If you are feeling a little adventurous, Gucci has a pair of dreamy pair of slip on loafers. Key high street influences such as Topshop have created loafers in a variety of coloured leathers that pretty much anyone can wear.
2. Bomber Jacket.
The bomber jacket is a great transitional piece for styling out a summery outfit on a chilly Autumnal night. The high street covered lightweight versions of this for the summer months but now is the time to invest in a padded one. If you are looking for the traditional varsity look, designers like Saint Laurent have covered this trend and high street giants Topshop have translated this perfectly for a more affordable price. One massive trend for the upcoming season is the utility look that came from the Yeezus show. This has been covered by a lot of brands but Whistles has created the ultimate value for money bomber with their reversible utility number. With so many styles out there you would be mad to miss out on this trend.
3. Stripe Shirt.
The summer has given us cold shoulder tops and Bardot styles in stripe shirting fabric for a more tailored look. Now we are carrying this theme into next season, taking structured stripe fabric into actual shirts. This is a great piece that can be styled with a pair of culottes for work and for a weekend look with a pair of frayed denim jeans. H&M and Topshop are showing some really great styles for updating your wardrobe with.
6. Frayed Denim Jeans.
The denim jeans have long been a staple of every girl's wardrobe but this season the catwalk takes your everyday piece and makes it into a statement item of clothing. This has all come from a pinnacle catwalk show, Vetements. They brought to light how important it is to show off the staple items in our wardrobe and in doing that creating beautiful pieces we want to wear over and over again. The frayed edges look has translated straight down onto the high street, with stores such as Topshop and Zara creating some designer looking styles to invest in at an affordable price.
5. Metallic Top.
Finally, to add in a little bit of bling into the mix, the coming winter season is all about metallics, with colours like rose gold and copper shining through. If you are looking for stand out pieces, why not try a sequined midi skirt teamed with a casual white t-shirt and a pair of loafers. For a more toned down look, try sourcing out key styles with lurex stitching or metallic binding. One brand that has nailed this trend is Scotch and Soda with lurex binding at the edges on there long sleeve styles, this is a subtle way of including the trend in your outfits.
These five trends are a building block for your winter wardrobe and are pieces that can take your summer pieces and add a point of difference too. If you invest right, these pieces they will see you straight through the winter into next summer. Happy hunting for the key transitional items to inject your wardrobe with.
